Interview with Roiesha Booth
Roiesha stepped up to the of set design because no one else wanted to do it.
"Most people have an idea that all you do is pick a bunch of colours and paint a few flats"
There is a lot of work and effect that goes into set design. Most people have an idea that all you do is pick a bunch of colours and paint a few flats but, Roiesha will let you know that is not the case. She went on to say that maths is heavily involved, as you need to map out where things go and how to make realistic.
Set design is very hard and on a good day make pull your hair out on a bad have a full meltdown. The set design takes a lot of time, effort, and meticulous planning to get things right. That said Roiesha believes she had a great team of colleagues and teachers to help her.
I asked her what she would do differently and she joked that not doing it at all would be that thing but, on a serious note she felt she would have planned this differently, moved the flats into the studio earlier so, if she sees things she doesn’t like she could change them and not have to manage with them.
When asked about regrets Roiesha said her only regret on the Swan hotel set. Roiesha felt she needed more time to make it look better than it was but she is very proud of the Try & Buy shop set.
